The Land of Triumphant Success!
|
That’s a wrap (for now!) on our very special show The Land of Might-Have-Been, made with such care and love, and that connected so powerfully with audiences in Norwich. We are incredibly proud of what was created, and thankful to all who were involved, supported us and shared their joy in watching. Thank you for trusting us and coming to watch this brand new production, we hope you loved it and will be able to say in the future: I saw it first in Norwich! |
Want to win some tickets?
|
The Land of Might-Have-Been was our first co-production with Buxton International Opera Festival and it got us thinking that we want to know more about the relationship between opera and musicals. We have a short survey that will help us understand a little more about how audiences feel about musicals and opera. As a thank you for your time, you could win four tickets to our panto, Sleeping Beauty - The Fairy's Tale and two tickets to Cinderella by English Touring Opera.

While they were
here, the cast and director of The Land of Might-Have-Been met with community
group, Society Alive to inspire them about the theatre industry. During the session, the cast encouraged
the children to follow what they are passionate about, and explained how their
interests could lead to a career in theatre. Some of the children were
interested in writing stories, and another was keen to make things. The cast
told them that their skills could be put to use by writing their own scripts, or
designing sets and props for shows.
Society Alive is passionate
about bringing positive change into its community in Bowthorpe. Its sessions
aim to develop the talents of the children in the community, and encourage them
to aspire towards a bright future. With the cast all coming from different
countries and backgrounds, they shared their experiences for the children to
relate to. |
Climate inspired performance at Norwich Cathedral
|
 |
Yesterday a
fantastic new show opened which is created for and performed in the atmospheric
cloisters of Norwich Cathedral. We have supported new Norwich physical theatre
company, Vatic Theatre with their immersive production Norwich
Under the Water. Part of our supporting new artists commitment, it also is
a key production in our Creative Matters: Climate Stories season, and delivered
under our Norwich Theatre Beyond stage, which sees work performed out of the
theatre buildings.
With communities across Norwich and with climate scientists, Vatic Theatre explored the relevance of climate headlines to our lives: do they induce anxiety or encourage action?
Bishop Graham is the Church of England’s Lead Bishop for Environmental Affairs. He said: “I am pleased that this new work is to be performed in the beautiful cloisters of Norwich Cathedral, not least because it awakes us to the reality of climate change on our doorstep. As Christians, we have a responsibility to care for God’s creation, and participating in Norwich Theatre’s Creative Matters: Climate Stories is just one way in which we can demonstrate that care. I hope this performance piece from Vatic Theatre will encourage conversation and personal reflection.” |
